Battery powered RFID tags can contain or be attached to a wide variety of sensors and can be used to report changes in the location of or in the environmental conditions of whatever the tag is attached to, and do it in real time. RFID enabled sensors can be used to track items anywhere in the world, reporting on their locations in real-time as well as it’s temperature, altitude, humidity, motion and numerous other variables.

Votum uses location-aware devices for advanced asset tracking when the location of the item being tracked needs to be known in real time and over a wide geographic area. Location-aware tags can be used to track any large item including shipping containers, equipment, and trucks. Votum provides a service with the tags that enables real-time monitoring and alerts through a website, and “geo fencing” (ensuring that the tracked asset follows a pre-planned route).

Votum sells most major brands of ruggedized portable PC’s and handhelds, including those rated for hazardous environments. We supply devices at very competitive prices to meet any mobile business need. Votum uses these devices as deployment platforms for RFID readers where tags needed to read by hand. Votum can provide custom configured PC’s and handhelds to include not only RFID readers and GPS, and also deployment services and ongoing support.
